Long Description

Avery Dennison™ AFB™ 6120G is a grey acrylic foam tape that features a general-purpose acrylic adhesive, designed for high adhesion and internal strength. This conformable foam adhesive offers excellent lamination properties and maintains strong bonding even on irregular substrates or when surfaces are mismatched. It provides long-term durability and internal strength, making it ideal for auto-dispensing by converters and various industrial applications. AFB™ 6120G is particularly well-suited for large domestic appliance attachments, air conditioner housing lamination, nameplate bonding, and sign bonding. Additionally, this product finds uses in office furniture, telecommunication mounting, TV frame mounting, and a variety of construction and appliance assembly applications, particularly when bonding metal or plastic surfaces.

Key Features:

Viscoelastic Acrylic Foam Carrier:
AFB™ 6120G features a viscoelastic acrylic foam carrier that absorbs shock and distributes stress evenly across the bonded surface. This property enhances its ability to bond to irregular or mismatched surfaces, ensuring a secure and lasting bond even under demanding conditions.

Closed-Cell Structure:
The tape’s closed-cell foam structure provides exceptional moisture resistance, UV resistance, and high temperature resistance, which makes it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, even in harsh environmental conditions.

Acrylic Adhesive System:
The tape is equipped with a uniform acrylic adhesive system, ensuring consistent bonding performance across various substrates. This adhesive is formulated to provide strong adhesion while maintaining good shear strength, making it suitable for applications requiring lasting adhesion even under dynamic loads.

Red Polyethylene Liner:
The red polyethylene liner not only provides good moisture stability but also facilitates easier handling and converting with its high tear strength. The liner helps to preserve the adhesive integrity and ensure easy application during the manufacturing process.

Eliminates Mechanical Fasteners:
The tape helps to eliminate the need for mechanical fasteners such as screws, drilling, or grinding, which can lead to extra work, time consumption, and mess. This makes it a more efficient and clean solution for bonding and attachment tasks.

Construction:

Liner: Red Polyethylene with imprinted Avery logo

Application Techniques:

Surface Preparation:
Ensure that the surface to which the tape is being applied is clean, dry, and free of any contaminants, including oil, grease, or dirt. Proper surface cleaning is critical to achieve optimal bonding performance.

Bonding Strength:
Bond strength is influenced by several factors, including the contact area between the adhesive and the surface. To achieve optimal adhesion, it’s recommended to apply the tape with sufficient pressure to ensure good adhesive-to-surface contact.

Installation Considerations:
Different surfaces (rigid or flexible) and environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.) can affect the performance of the tape. For best results, apply the tape within the recommended temperature range and allow adequate dwell time to achieve full bond strength.

Storage and Shelf Life:

Shelf Life:
AFB™ 6120G has a one-year shelf life when stored under proper conditions.

Storage Conditions:
Store the tape at a temperature between 64-72°F (18-22°C) and 30-70% relative humidity to maintain the tape’s performance. Ensure that the product is stored out of direct sunlight and in its original packaging to avoid any potential damage or contamination.

Applications:

Appliance and Equipment Assembly:
AFB™ 6120G is perfect for bonding components in large domestic appliances, air conditioners, and other appliance housing applications, offering strong adhesion to metals and plastics.

Nameplate and Sign Bonding:
The tape is ideal for nameplate bonding and sign mounting, ensuring a secure attachment with consistent bonding strength.

Office Furniture Mounting:
Use the tape for office furniture applications, such as cabinet and drawer assembly, providing strong adhesion without the need for fasteners.

Telecommunication Applications:
AFB™ 6120G is suitable for use in telecommunication mounting, including wall-mounted equipment, cables, and decorative elements.

TV Frame Mounting:
This tape is also widely used for TV frame mounting, providing a clean, professional finish without visible fasteners.
