Long Description

Avery Dennison™ AFB™ 6215B is a black acrylic foam tape that features a double-coated modified acrylic adhesive on both sides of a conformable foam carrier. This tape is designed to provide high adhesion and excellent shear strength, making it ideal for use in applications where bonding to a broad range of substrates, including medium to low surface energy paints, plastics, and powder-coated paints, is required. AFB™ 6215B excels in UV resistance, moisture resistance, and high temperature endurance, making it particularly suitable for office furniture mounting, telecommunication applications, TV frame mounting, and other decorative applications.

The unique viscoelastic acrylic foam carrier absorbs shock and distributes stress evenly, while the closed-cell structure provides excellent resistance to moisture, UV exposure, and high temperatures. This foam tape eliminates the need for mechanical fasteners, drilling, or grinding, providing a cleaner, more efficient bonding solution.

Key Features:

Double-Coated Acrylic Adhesive:
The modified acrylic adhesive on both sides of the tape ensures superior adhesion to a wide range of substrates, including medium to low surface energy materials such as powder-coated paints, plastics, and more.

Viscoelastic Foam Carrier:
The foam carrier is highly conformable, allowing it to bond well to irregular or textured surfaces. The foam's viscoelastic properties enable it to absorb shock and distribute stress evenly, making it perfect for applications that involve vibration or movement.

Closed-Cell Structure:
The tape’s closed-cell foam structure ensures excellent moisture resistance, UV stability, and high temperature resistance, making it highly durable and suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.

Uniform Bonding Performance:
The acrylic adhesive system ensures consistent bonding performance throughout the tape, offering high peel adhesion, dynamic shear, and static shear.

Eliminates the Need for Mechanical Fasteners:
The tape helps reduce reliance on mechanical fasteners, which can require drilling, grinding, and subsequent clean-up. This reduces time and effort during assembly, while also providing a cleaner finish and avoiding damage to the bonded surfaces.

Polyethylene Liner:
The red polyethylene liner protects the adhesive during storage and handling. It offers high tear strength, ensuring easy release while providing moisture stability. The liner also makes the tape easier to convert during manufacturing processes.

Construction:

Liner: Red Polyethylene with imprinted Avery logo

Adhesive 1: Black Modified Acrylic

Carrier: Black Acrylic Foam Core

Adhesive 2: Black Modified Acrylic

Application Techniques:

Surface Preparation:
For best performance, the surface to which the tape is applied must be clean, dry, and free from oil, grease, or any other contaminants. Proper surface preparation is essential for maximizing adhesion.

Bond Strength:
Bond strength is influenced by the contact area between the adhesive and the surface, as well as the pressure, time, and temperature conditions during application.

Installation Considerations:
The adhesive should be applied under consistent pressure to achieve optimal bonding. Temperature and humidity can affect the adhesive's performance, so consider these factors when applying the tape.

Storage and Shelf Life:

Shelf Life:
AFB™ 6215B has a one-year shelf life when stored properly.

Storage Conditions:
The tape should be stored at 64-72°F (18-22°C) with 30-70% relative humidity, and out of direct sunlight to ensure optimal performance. Keep the tape in its original packaging to protect it from contamination or damage.

Applications:

Office Furniture Mounting:
AFB™ 6215B is ideal for mounting components in office furniture, such as desks, chairs, and filing cabinets.

Telecommunication Mounting:
The tape can be used in telecommunications for mounting devices or securing equipment in place, providing high adhesion without the need for screws or other mechanical fasteners.

Decorative Applications:
It is excellent for mounting decorative elements like trims or TV frame mounting, offering a clean, professional finish without visible fasteners.

Automotive and Industrial Uses:
Due to its resistance to UV, moisture, and high temperatures, AFB™ 6215B is also suitable for automotive and industrial applications requiring durable, reliable adhesion.

Conclusion:

Avery Dennison™ AFB™ 6215B offers a high-performance double-coated acrylic foam tape with superior adhesion, excellent shear strength, and resistance to UV, moisture, and high temperatures. Its viscoelastic foam carrier provides shock absorption and stress distribution, making it an ideal solution for mounting applications, such as in office furniture, telecommunications, and TV frame mounting. This product reduces the need for mechanical fasteners and provides a clean, efficient bonding solution for a wide variety of industries.
