Long Description

Avery Dennisonβ„’ FT 8397 – Double Coated Polyester Tape

Avery Dennisonβ„’ FT 8397 is a high-performance double coated polyester (PET) tape engineered for applications requiring quick stick and excellent adhesion to low surface energy (LSE) materials such as polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (HDPE), and thermoplastic polyolefins (TPO). The tape features a specially formulated acrylic adhesive on both sides of a stable PET carrier, ensuring consistent bonding performance, superior processing characteristics, and excellent die-cutting stability.

FT 8397 is designed for high-speed converting and demanding assembly operations where immediate tack, long-term adhesion, and environmental resistance are critical.

Key Features

Polyester carrier for dimensional stability and consistent converting performance.

Specially formulated acrylic adhesive provides excellent initial tack and lasting adhesion to LSE plastics and painted or metal surfaces.

Densified kraft release liner ensures smooth release and easy handling during die-cutting and lamination.

Resistant to mild plasticizers and various environmental exposures, ensuring durability in diverse applications.

Made in the USA for quality assurance and reliability.

Benefits

Excellent processing stability and high precision during die-cutting and converting.

Superior adhesion to low surface energy substrates, including ABS, PP, HDPE, and TPO.

Maintains bond strength even when exposed to moderate heat, cold, and environmental aging.

Provides consistent and clean application, suitable for high-volume production lines.

Application Techniques

Ensure bonding surfaces are clean, dry, and free of oil, dust, and grease before tape application.

Apply firm, uniform pressure to achieve optimal adhesive-to-surface contact.

Note that adhesion performance may vary depending on the substrate texture, rigidity, and temperature during application.

Adjust pressure, dwell time, and temperature to achieve desired results for specific materials.

Storage and Shelf Life

Shelf Life: 1 year when stored at 64–72Β°F (18–22Β°C) and 30–70% relative humidity.

Store in original packaging, away from direct sunlight and heat sources to maintain adhesive integrity.
