Long Description

Avery Dennisonβ„’ FT B2173 – Double Coated Acrylic Adhesive Tape

Avery Dennisonβ„’ FT B2173 is a high-quality double coated pressure-sensitive adhesive tape designed for assembly and bonding applications that demand excellent temperature resistance, chemical durability, and dimensional stability. It features a dispersion-based pure acrylic adhesive coated on both sides of a clear PET film carrier, offering medium tack, peel, and shear performance.

FT B2173 is particularly well-suited for light-duty applications such as reclosable flexible bags, poster mounting, and double glazing (spacer bars). Importantly, both the adhesive and tape construction are approved for food contact applications, allowing use in packaging environments where indirect food exposure may occur.

Key Features

Dispersion-based pure acrylic adhesive for consistent performance and clean bonding.

Clear PET carrier provides strength, transparency, and dimensional stability.

White glassine release liner for easy handling, lamination, and die-cutting.

Medium tack and peel strength suitable for bonding a wide range of substrates.

Excellent water jet and die-cutting properties for precise converting and application.

Resistant to water, detergents, and alcohol, with moderate plasticizer and outdoor resistance.

Food-contact approved adhesive (MI165) for safe use in resealable packaging and similar applications.

Benefits

Delivers reliable bonding performance with balanced adhesion and shear strength.

Withstands exposure to humidity, light solvents, and moderate outdoor conditions.

Ensures excellent processability during slitting, laminating, and converting operations.

Offers stable performance across a wide temperature range, including high heat resistance up to 175Β°C.

Provides safe and compliant use in food-related applications where indirect contact may occur.

Not recommended for direct contact with aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbons (e.g., gasoline, toluene).

Application Techniques

Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free from grease, oil, and dust before tape application.

Apply firm, even pressure to ensure maximum adhesive contact and bond strength.

Bond strength depends on the substrate type, applied pressure, time, and temperature.

For best performance, use in environments where contact with non-hydrocarbon materials is ensured.

Suitable for manual or automated lamination and die-cutting processes.

Storage and Shelf Life

Shelf Life: Two years when stored at 64–72Β°F (18–22Β°C) and 30–70% relative humidity.

Keep in original packaging, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and moisture.
