Long Description

Avery Dennisonβ„’ FT B2687 is part of a versatile range of assembling systems that feature a thin carrierβ€”such as paper, non-woven fabric, film, or other materialsβ€”coated on both sides with a uniform layer of adhesive. These adhesives are pressure-sensitive and formulated using acrylic polymers or synthetic rubber. The product is available in both roll and sheet formats and may come with either a single or double release liner, allowing customization to meet specific customer needs.

Construction and Typical Applications

The tape consists of a non-woven carrier coated on both sides with a modified acrylic adhesive.

It is produced in a self-wound format, using a white polyethylene (PE) coated paper liner.

The tape offers very good temperature resistance and is suitable for bonding open pore materials such as impregnated foam, cellular PE, cellular rubber, and felt fabric lamination.

Adhesion to Substrates

High adhesion to: Metal, aluminum, glass, ceramics, painted surfaces, wood, board, paper, textile, cotton, rigid PVC, PC, ABS, smooth and rough substrates, polystyrene.

Medium adhesion to: PP, PE, soft PVC, rubber, EPDM.

Resistance Properties

Good resistance to water, detergents, and alcohol.

Medium resistance to plasticizers.

Moderate outdoor durability.

Not recommended for use in contact with aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbons.

Shelf Life

Maintains performance for 2 years when stored at 15 to 25 Β°C and approximately 50% relative humidity.

Adhesive Data (Typical Values)

Quick Tack: 21 N/25 mm on brushed stainless steel.

Peel Adhesion (180Β° on brushed stainless steel):

After 20 minutes: 20 N/25 mm

After 24 hours: 20 N/25 mm

Shear Strength: Over 2000 hours at 1kg load on brushed stainless steel.

Carrier Data

Weight: 14 grams per square meter.

Temperature Resistance

Minimum application temperature: +5 Β°C.

Service temperature range: -10 Β°C to +80 Β°C.

Short term temperature resistance up to 190 Β°C (500g weight).

Release Liner

Clear PE matte film.

White silicone PE coated paper liner (120 g/sqm).

Thickness

Carrier plus adhesive thickness: Approximately 100 microns.

Application Guidelines

The surface must be clean, dry, and free from grease or oil before application.

Bond strength depends on the amount of adhesive-to-surface contact.

Performance can vary based on pressure, time, temperature, and the type of surface.
